"BLOOD VIPER"
JABO JOKER II OXBLOOD AVENTURINE (1st RUN) 2008

The name "Blood Viper" plays off the idea of the vintage "Cobra" type by genre (in this case snake) while preserving the vintage name for the orginal type. The term "Blood" serves to celebrate the distinction of the serpent like pattern evident in the marble being completely comprised of "Oxblood"

A note on the photogrophy: All of the above images are the same two marbles. Only the lighting was adjust in the photo process along with the color of the background. As you can see the color of the transparent glass along with the oxblood, appears different based on the level of exposure and the amount of reflective light the marbles are exposed to. While the darker background supplies the closer to "sunlight" color of the oxblood, the blue tint of the glass is completely obliterated. In the bright white environment, the redness of the oxblood takes on a darker contrast displaying more shadow and contrast in the oxblood, and clearly showing the clear glasses tint. The actual "TRUE SUNLIGHT" color will be somewhere in between. This can help you better determine the color differences of the marbles you see online, verses the color they seem to have in hand.

"BLOOD VIPER NEST"
JABO JOKER II OXBLOOD AVENTURINE (2nd RUN) 2009

This first group are all swirl types which I used to call "Cyclone" recent discussion with collectors on the marble boards has brought me to rename this type, "Blood Viper Nest." This plays off the idea of the vintage "Cobra" type by genre (in this case snake) while preserving the vintage name for the orginal type. At least two of these appear to be much like German "Wirepull" marbles. All of the marbles on this page are Jabo Joker II Oxblood Series.

A note on the photogrophy: if you look closely you will see a ringed halo of white reflective light on many of the images above. This is cause by shooting in a white reflective surface to highlight the clear portions of these marbles. I also shot the same marbles in my "black box" to show the difference (the last four images in this group.) Color variation also occur because of the metering in the camera and the level of exposure requiring less for the lighter background and more for the darker one.
