The exercise of good judgement, a proper understanding of how to serve others, and when to avoid those who would treat what is holy like a swine or a dog, are all taught here as Christ begins the conclusion to the Sermon on the Mount.&nbsp; We are to <strong>Ask<\/strong>, and not only Ask but <strong>Seek<\/strong> the proper answers, and when seeking to<strong> Knock<\/strong>, so as to open closed doors of understanding, opportunity, and even self-awareness to the revealed truth and blessing of the Law and the Prophets being fully disclosed and demonstrated by and in Christ.&nbsp; In Christ we are to be persistent in doing good.<\/p>\n<p>Beginning at <strong>v1 <\/strong>of the chapter Christ\u2019s instruction is on \u201cPersistence in Doing Good.\u201d&nbsp; The Golden Rule as stated in Matt 7:12, is qualified by the whole proceeding sermon.&nbsp; The blessings of being in a persistent covenantally blessed relationship with Christ (Matt 5:1-12).&nbsp; Understanding the righteousness of the Law, not only as it was expressed in the OT, but how it is being fulfilled in Christ in the NT (Matt 5:13-20).&nbsp; How temporal blessings can interfere with true righteousness and service to God and our fellow man (Matt 5:21-6:34).<\/p>\n<p>Christ in the closing of his inaugural address as the Messiah of Promise through the blood of the everlasting covenant (Heb 13:20-21), addresses the nature of righteousness in human relationships according the Law and the Prophets (v12b). &nbsp;The ability to adopt and practice (which is the definition of Persistence) &#8220;Doing Good,&#8221; requires surrender to the Author of every good and perfect gift (James 1:16-17), which in accomplished in us as we are conformed to the image of Christ (Rom 8:28-30), because we are the workmanship of God created in Christ Jesus for Good Works (Eph 2:10).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Good Judgement<br \/>\n(Prov 11:22, 23:9, 26:11; Matt 15:26; Phil 3:2; Rev 22:15)<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Persistence Defined<br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>(Pro 2:3-6; Isaiah 55:6-9; James 1:2-8)<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Doing Good<br \/>\n(1 Cor 13;
