Resting in Gods Word

Hebrews.4
Top 20 Words from Hebrews 4

So often I think we as Christians take everything we have for granted- Especially when we look at the Word of God.  Hebrews 4:12 in a climax to the first part of the book the Spirit uses extremely dynamic words to wake up its readers:

“For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.” (Hebrews 4:12–13, NKJV)

Imagine you’re a 50 something year old Hebrew who has been going to Synagogue and hearing the Scriptures all your life, you know them, you have heard them, “been there done that…” seems to be the attitude.

Suddenly the Holy Spirit delivers you this message, ALIVE AND POWERFUL!  These WORDS should not fall to the ground flat, but provoke, encourage, lift up, motivate and cause an immediate response.  Like the lame man in Acts 3 who received strength in his feet and ankles, he began leaping and praising God; or the Samaritan leper of Luke 17 who returned, and with a loud voice glorified God, and fell down on his face at Christ’s feet.  Sadly Christ remarks, only one of 10 returned with this praise of God- What is our response to His Word today?

Is it our food? (Matthew 4)

Do we press in to hear and read it like the multitudes did? (Matthew 5)

What kind of ground is our heart and mind? (Matthew 8)

I have been meditating on these Words for more the 40 years, since I first recall hearing them come out of the speakers of my father reel to reel tape player at the opening of a pastors message.

My life is a testimony to the Power of God’s Word, and if you are His, then your life is too.

How will you impact the world around you today in that Power?

Blessings…
