Steve Sturtz produced three books focused on JABO’s

  • 1987 JABO formed
  • 1991 JABO industrial marbles for Ford Motor Company ¾“.
  • Dave McCullough Begins working in the Summer of 1991 for JABO (July?)
  • 1991 Experimental Run Fall 5/8” Dave’s first run. (October?)
    • White green and red with red sometimes bleeding into yellow” 60,000 made. These were made on the Heaton/Cairo machine, 24-36 hour run.
    • 1999 similar family exists sometimes mistaken as this run.
  • 1992 Experimental Run 5/8” . 60,000 made.
  • 1993 JABO received 17 trucks full of Vitro items.
    • 8-10 marble machines with parts for 6 more
    • 25,000-30,000 pounds of marbles.
    • Incorporated the name JABO-Vitro
  • 1993 First “Classic” Run Fall 93 5/8” 380,000 made. Some 5/8” patches were made.
  • 1993 7/8” opaque Chinese Checker Marbles
    • One time run
    • First logo marbles. Red, yellow, green, 2 shades of blue, black, white
    • Bonnie stenciled these 6 7/8” in 1994: teddy bear in necktie, bumblebee, rabbit, bird, juggling clown, bear with staff, puppy dog, others. 8 count header bags of these logo marbles exist.
    • Also additional 7/8“ logos in 1994: Gene Autry, Hopalong Cassidy, Annie, Moose, Popeye, Bette Boop
  • 1994 JABO classics 5/8”, included first 1” run.
    • “A few experimental ¾ and 1” were made and then lots were made all runs thereafter”-Sturtz book.
  • 1995 JABO Classics
    • JAN a 5/8” run
    • DEC a 5/8” run
      • “Cranberries” 5/8”
    • There was a 1” run. Attributable 1995 wafers made versus the same from Marble King.
  • 1996 JABO classic
    • Included 1”. There was a ¾” run.
    • “First year peewees were made and then some every year thereafter” (???)
    • Also 95 and 98 documentation for first peewees made.
    • April 96 experimental 5/8” run white with purple swirl
    • Summer 96 1” Fluorescents and ¾” run
    • JUL 5/8” run
      • Valentines logos: True Love, Be My Valentine, Sweetheart.
    • Summer 1” Run, JUN 1” Run
    • SEPT 1” Run
    • DEC 1” Run. 1” Green Tomato named by Frank. Several 5/8” patches were made.
  • 1997 JABO Classics There were 3 different major 5/8” runs
    • Summer 1997, 9/97, and 12/97
    • Two different 1” runs (Spring 1997 and Summer 1997)
    • 97 white with blue header bags: ”JABO Classics Finest Quality Marbles Reno, Ohio Join the Winners Circle with JABO Classics”
    • DT Special (David Tamulevich) clear blue with silver mica. 1” and 5/8” available Only 100 made.
    • Several 5/8” patches were made. Accidental Peewees made!
  • 1998 JABO Classics
    • Fall included 1”
    • Spring included 1” There was a ¾” run.

    • JABO trays attribute the first red and white peewees to 1998. Mike Warnelis made prototype peewee boxes of these

    • JAN Pete McMillan Specials made from Fenton candy jar cullet. ¾” run
      • Fluoresce in blacklight.
      • 4 known families
    • Hot Tamale
    • Tie Dye, peewees made. Red, white and Green,white
    • Christmas first peewee run ever marbles with provenance.
    • Named ¾” runs.
      • Holly Berry. Harley, Jade, Bloody Jade, Tie Dye variations, Hot Tamale.

    • OCT first peewee run (10/99) -only 150 pounds were made. Peacock (brown with green) was a 99

    • Named 5/8” marbles per MarbleAlan’s website include: Peacock, Bloody Jade, Pseudo Superman, Blue Bonnet-brown with blue, Hot Tamale, Tie Dye, Tiger-tie dye variation with the yellow on the orange only, Black Tiger-dark marble with white and purple stripes, Grasshopper-mint green with brown, Moon-translucent looking all white, Cherry Red-striking red with yellow like tie dye, Butterscotch-yellow with red.
  • 2000 JABO Classics Fall
    • 5/8“, 1” were produced, peewees made. Copperhead, yellow jacket
    • Maybe ¾” run in MAY or probably just logos made on 99 ¾“ marbles, Bumble Bee-black base with yellow/tan, Gait Hen-yellowish orange base with translucent light blue swirl.
    • APRIL 1” ,5/8”, and 3/4″ runs
    • DEC 5/8” run
  • 2001 JABO Classics included 1”, ¾’, 5/8” and PeeWee Runs

        Fall 2003 ¾” Run named Superman.

  • 2004 JABO Classics
    • Spring April 4th Peewees 5/8” and 1” Run was Fall 2004 included 5/8”, peewees. Gail, Wonderwoman, High Sierra, Natty Nate, Oyster, Banjo-Wonderwoman has 13 families made from milk glass cullet some in the mix ¾” and 5/8” patches made.
    • Feb 4th was the 1” run date. Carnival glass 5/8”
    • Nov 4th 5/8” Small run produced Tropical. OJ 5/8”, Prairie Fire ¾” 5/8” Tropical Swirl.
  • 2005 JABO Classics
    • Spring Classic Run May 8th (Done in April and May)
      • Superman 5/8” April 5th 1” , ¾” , 5/8” and Peewee.
      • April 5th and May 5th 5/8” run dates produced Miranda, Yellow with blue, Brassy for David Chamberlain Red with Blue, Bert’s Berries for Bert Cohen- Red with Green.
        • Rootbeer swirls were thrown out and then rescued from the Spring 05 run by David Chamberlain.
      • June 5th 5/8” run
      • Sept 5th run produced ¾” and 1”
    • Fall Classic Run Produced 5/8 run 9/05, ¾, Peewees, and 1”.
      • Dec 5th JABO gets hit with $92K gas bill and laid off a lot of their work force so no Spring classics for 2006. Small mixed runs in 10/06 and 12/06.
        December 9th How It’s Made/Discovery Channel program is produced the run which aired had about 30 families of 1” marbles.
  • 2006  No Spring Run as a result of cullet depletion and costs of operation.
    • Fall Sept Classic Run 5/8, ¾, PeeWees, and 1”. Bloody egg yolk 1”
    • Fall 06 Black with Purple 5/8” are super rare.
    • Pillars of creation family, licorice swirls family, electric eel family. Camouflage 1” Run.
    • 5/8” runs in September and November as recorded on the official JABO trays.
    • There were 3 different 1” runs in 2006.
    • Oct 5th and 6th Run produced superman 5/8, Ozark Coneflower aka Marlow Peterson yellow with Red, Prairie Smoke clear with Blue some Red and Gray, Superman, Caramel Heaven transparent stacked Blue Yellow Orange, Prairie Trillium dark clear with Green and Red, Virginia Wild rye Green Black Grey.

    • Nov 5/8” Run “last hour”

    I didn’t see any information here on the presidential marbles that featured the president faces and terms below draped across the equator with red and blue blue caps and blue stars the faces terms and dates appearing to be stenciled on . Busch is the last president and there’s a few errors on date terms also noted. I believe the count on the set is 45 with the first marble being the American flag. I’m assuming the run was experimental or prototype . Do you have any information about these.
