Today I am in Luke. A great Gospel account.
Just what is the Gospel?
Todays question is again a reflection. Paul speaks of the “Gospel of God,” and “my Gospel.”
Romans 1:1,15:16; 2 Cor 11:7; 1 Thess 2:2-9, 1 Peter 4:17
But is there a difference between “The Gospels” and the “Gospel of God?” What about, Paul’s use of the idea of “my Gospel?”
Context only can answer these questions, the correct biblical context. Paul is not among the original Apostles his training came after is conversion, and it came directly from Christ. Either at the revelation he received on the road to Damascus, or in the three years he spent there and Arabia. Gal 1:16; Acts 9:3-6
If you read Paul carefully, you will find that the Gospel is always the entire context of the Scriptures. So what is the Gospel. Every word from God is the Gospel!
We need to keep diligent to understand this so we do not make a mistake about the Gospel only being the death and resurrection of Christ. The Gospel is not, “Christ died on the cross for your sins…” that is only part of the Gospel. The whole Gospel, is every word God has given, for
2 Timothy 3:14-17
14 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; 15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
Blessings!
One thought on “What is the Gospel”
This was good for me to hear, like an un-asked question answered. I never thought really about what exactly IS the Gospel, and I did kind of think that the life, death, and ressuerection of Jesus Christ was the gospel. Reading this my spirit tells me it is true, that Every Word from God is the gospel! How cool is that.
