Life, Faith and Reason

Creation

5     I am the Lord, and there is no other;

There is no God besides Me.

I will gird you, though you have not known Me,

6 That they may know from the rising of the sun to its setting

That there is none besides Me.

I am the Lord, and there is no other;

7     I form the light and create darkness,

I make peace and create calamity;

I, the Lord, do all these things.’

8     “Rain down, you heavens, from above,

And let the skies pour down righteousness;

Let the earth open, let them bring forth salvation,

And let righteousness spring up together.

I, the Lord, have created it.

9     “Woe to him who strives with his Maker!

Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth!

Shall the clay say to him who forms it, ‘What are you making?’

Or shall your handiwork say, ‘He has no hands’?

10     Woe to him who says to his father, ‘What are you begetting?’

Or to the woman, ‘What have you brought forth?’ ”

11     Thus says the Lord,

The Holy One of Israel, and his Maker:

“Ask Me of things to come concerning My sons;

And concerning the work of My hands, you command Me.

12     I have made the earth,

And created man on it.

I-My hands-stretched out the heavens,

And all their host I have commanded.

13     I have raised him up in righteousness,

And I will direct all his ways;

He shall build My city

And let My exiles go free,

Not for price nor reward,”

Says the Lord of hosts.

The Lord, the Only Savior

14 Thus says the Lord:

“The labor of Egypt and merchandise of Cush

And of the Sabeans, men of stature,

Shall come over to you, and they shall be yours;

They shall walk behind you,

They shall come over in chains;

And they shall bow down to you.

They will make supplication to you, saying, ‘Surely God is in you,

And there is no other;

There is no other God.’ ”

15     Truly You are God, who hide Yourself,

O God of Israel, the Savior!

16     They shall be ashamed

And also disgraced, all of them;

They shall go in confusion together,

Who are makers of idols.

17     But Israel shall be saved by the Lord

With an everlasting salvation;

You shall not be ashamed or disgraced

Forever and ever.

18     For thus says the Lord,

Who created the heavens,

Who is God,

Who formed the earth and made it,

Who has established it,

Who did not create it in vain,

Who formed it to be inhabited:

“I am the Lord, and there is no other.

19     I have not spoken in secret,

In a dark place of the earth;

I did not say to the seed of Jacob,

‘Seek Me in vain’;

I, the Lord, speak righteousness,

I declare things that are right.

20     “Assemble yourselves and come;

Draw near together,

You who have escaped from the nations.

They have no knowledge,

Who carry the wood of their carved image,

And pray to a god that cannot save.

21     Tell and bring forth your case;

Yes, let them take counsel together.

Who has declared this from ancient time?

Who has told it from that time?

Have not I, the Lord?

And there is no other God besides Me,

A just God and a Savior;

There is none besides Me.

22     “Look to Me, and be saved,

All you ends of the earth!

For I am God, and there is no other.

23     I have sworn by Myself;

The word has gone out of My mouth in righteousness,

And shall not return,

That to Me every knee shall bow,

Every tongue shall take an oath.

24     He shall say,

‘Surely in the Lord I have righteousness and strength.

To Him men shall come,

And all shall be ashamed

Who are incensed against Him.

25     In the Lord all the descendants of Israel

Shall be justified, and shall glory.’ ”

(Isaiah 45:5-25 NKJV)

Creation is an essential element of the Scriptural Doctrines regarding the teachings from God about Himself; the revelation (holy scriptures) are a supernatural demonstration of creation.  God creates all things.  The ALL here is absolute.  There is nothing which has been made which He did not make.

1     In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
(Genesis 1:1 NKJV)

2     Thus the heavens and the earth, and all the host of them, were finished. 2 And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. 3 Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.
(Genesis 2:1-3 NKJV)

11     Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. 2 For by it the elders obtained a good testimony.  3 By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.
(Hebrews 11:1-3 NKJV)

Creation is the absolute act of the Eternal Father, demonstrating ultimate power possessed of He alone, calling from nothing everything which has been made. Creation is subject to the will of God, subject to vanity at God’s command and designed to serve the Good will and purpose of God.

26 Lift up your eyes on high,
And see who has created these things,

Who brings out their host by number;

He calls them all by name,

By the greatness of His might

And the strength of His power;

Not one is missing.

(Isaiah 40:26 NKJV)

24 Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer,

And He who formed you from the womb:

“I am the Lord, who makes all things,

Who stretches out the heavens all alone,

Who spreads abroad the earth by Myself;

(Isaiah 44:24 NKJV)

7   I form the light and create darkness,

I make peace and create calamity;

I, the Lord, do all these things.’
(Isaiah 45:7 NKJV)

20 For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope; 21 because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. 22 For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now. (Romans 8:20-22 NKJV)

Creation encompasses the imagination of humanity.   Everything within creation can only reflect creation, therefore there are no original ideas found within creation.

9     That which has been is what will be,

That which is done is what will be done,

And there is nothing new under the sun.

10     Is there anything of which it may be said,

“See, this is new”?

It has already been in ancient times before us.

11     There is no remembrance of former things,

Nor will there be any remembrance of things that are to come

By those who will come after.

(Ecclesiastes 1:9-11 NKJV)

Creation …

Gen 2:4-5 This is the history of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens, 5 before any plant of the field was in the earth and before any herb of the field had grown. What can we gain from this knowledge of the creation?

We can…

1.       Gain a deeper reverence for God.

a.       Through incorporation in our prayers

b.      Daily reflection upon the creation around us.

c.       Recognizing God is fully in control when we are completely out of control.

2.       Recognize the awe of God in the Creation around us.

a.       The Sun, Moon, Stars

b.      The air we breath

c.       Trees, grass, flowers

d.      Mountains, beaches, desserts

e.      Our ability to understand and use our understanding

3.       Grow in our depth of understanding Gods love for us.

4.       Find opportunities to share our faith through the shared experience of the Creation.

a.       All of the signs and wonders in the heavens are for signs and seasons:

i.      Eclipses, Comets, Meteors

b.      The conditions in the world:

i.      Earthquakes, Floods, Famines, Melting Glaciers

In short there are countless ways in which the knowledge of the creation, directed by the hand of God, can and should inspire us to live fuller richer lives in the liberty and blessings of His gracious gifts to us.; gifts which came to us through the hand of our Creator, and are distributed in and through the process and presence of the creation as a whole.

Romans 11:33-36

33 Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!

34     “For who has known the mind of the Lord?

Or who has become His counselor?”

35     “Or who has first given to Him

And it shall be repaid to him?”

36 For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever. Amen.
