Welcoming the Year 2026
Thank you for stopping to take a look.
May Christ richly bless you.

Thank you for visiting.  For many years, I supported David McCullough (RIP). Through buying and selling JABO, SMM, and D.A.S. Marbles I have met dozens of folks and found joy and that nostalgic little boy that lives in me.  Marble sales supported me through Seminary, hard times, and good times.

Any spend over $10 receives a 10% discount, $22 receives a 20% discount, and $100 receives %30 off!

Joker Rainbow I

JABO 2009 Joker Rainbow I Run: A Technicolor Triumph in Machine-Made Swirls

The Joker Rainbow I Run, executed in 2009 under the direction of Dave McCullough and the Joker Team, marked a significant evolution in JABO’s contract-era artistry. Building upon the success of the 2008 J.E.R.K. series, this run introduced refined mechanical adjustments and bold color experimentation, resulting in marbles that rivaled hand-made swirls in complexity and visual appeal.

Technical Innovations

Dave McCullough implemented key modifications to the marble machine’s height and flow dynamics, which allowed for more consistent 360-degree swirl coverage. These adjustments enhanced the flame-like appearance of the marbles and improved the layering and distribution of colors.
Glass chemistry was also advanced in this run, incorporating aventurine sparkle, oxblood accents, and translucent overlays. These elements added depth, shimmer, and a sense of motion to the marbles, elevating their aesthetic quality.

Visual Characteristics

Marbles from the Joker Rainbow I Run are typically 11/16" shooters, though some 3/4" variants were produced. They are known for their vibrant rainbow blends and dynamic swirl patterns, which often exhibit full coverage and layered complexity.

• Color Palette: Red, yellow, green, blue, black, and metallic overlays
• Swirl Style: Flame-like streaks, layered ribbons, and full 360-degree coverage
• Nicknames: “Golden Swirls,” “Exotics,” and “Rainbow Flames”
• Additives: Aventurine sparkle, oxblood, and translucent glass

Collector Appeal

Joker Rainbow I marbles are highly sought after for their aesthetic diversity and technical refinement. Many examples are rated Mint 9.0, with high visual clarity and minimal surface blemishes. The run is considered a turning point in JABO’s artistic trajectory, where machine-made marbles began to approach the visual complexity of hand-made swirls.
Though not as limited in quantity as the earliest Joker runs, Rainbow I holds a special place in JABO’s legacy for its ambition and execution. Collectors often seek out flame-patterned shooters and “Golden Swirl” variants for their display value and historical significance.

Notable Examples

• “Golden Swirl” shooters with frosted oxblood and aventurine sparkle
• Flame-patterned marbles with full swirl coverage
• Examples sold through private collectors and platforms such as Biblefreak and eBay
