Thank you for stopping to take a look.
May Christ richly bless you.

Thank you for visiting.  For many years, I supported David McCullough (RIP). Through buying and selling JABO, SMM, and D.A.S. Marbles I have met dozens of folks and found joy and that nostalgic little boy that lives in me.  Marble sales supported me through Seminary, hard times, and good times.

JABO 2009 Joker Rainbow II Run: The Omega, Black Rainbow Legacy

The Joker Rainbow II Run, executed in 2009 by Rick Hall along with Dave McCullough and the Joker Team. One of the most enigmatic and visually striking productions in JABO’s contract-era history. Known interchangeably as the “Omega Run,” “Black Rainbow,” and “Rainbow II,” this batch was originally misidentified upon release. Years later, its true lineage was clarified through research by Ed Parsons (RIP) and Joshua Dinklage, who helped establish its proper naming and historical placement.

Historical Context

Following the success of the Joker Rainbow I Run, the Rainbow II batch was produced as a continuation of the Joker series. However, it diverged in tone and palette, favoring darker base glass and more intense swirl contrasts. The name “Omega” was used internally at the time of production, while “Black Rainbow” came from box labels preserved by Ed Parsons. “Rainbow II” was later adopted to distinguish it from its predecessor.
This run is also notable for its connection to early failed crystal experiments, which influenced its glass chemistry and swirl structure. Despite initial misclassification, the marbles have since gained recognition for their unique aesthetic and technical refinement.

Visual Characteristics

Marbles from the Joker Rainbow II Run are typically 3/4" in diameter and exhibit dramatic swirl patterns with dark base glass and vivid color overlays. The use of oxblood stringers and aventurine sparkle is prominent, creating marbles that appear almost luminous against their black or deep blue backgrounds.

• Size: 3/4" shooters
• Base Glass: Black or deep blue
• Primary Colors: Red, yellow, green, blue, oxblood
• Additives: Aventurine sparkle, oxblood stringers
• Nicknames: “Omega,” “Black Rainbow,” “Rainbow II”
• Condition: Near Mint to Mint (8.9–9.0); examples sold through Biblefreak and eBay

Collector Appeal

The Joker Rainbow II Run is highly prized for its visual intensity and historical intrigue. Its misidentification and later clarification add a layer of narrative depth that appeals to collectors interested in provenance and production lore. Marbles from this run are often sold individually or in boxed sets, with high-grade examples commanding premium prices.
Collectors value the run for its flame-like swirls, deep contrast, and the presence of oxblood and aventurine—hallmarks of JABO’s most ambitious contract-era productions. The Omega designation also adds symbolic weight, suggesting a culmination or finality within the Joker series.

Notable Examples

• “Black Rainbow” shooters with layered aventurine and oxblood
• Omega-labeled boxed sets with high swirl coverage
• Individual Mint 9.0 examples sold through Biblefreak’s store and private auctions
