The Joker Omega Run, produced in 2009 at JABO Inc. under the direction of Rick Hall and Dave McCullough with the Joker Team. One of the most visually intense and historically complex runs in the Joker series. Known variously as “Omega,” “Black Rainbow,” and “Rainbow II,” this run was initially misidentified upon release. Years later, its true identity was clarified through research by Ed Parsons (RIP) and Joshua Dinklage, who helped establish its proper naming and lineage.
Historical Context
The Omega Run followed the Joker Rainbow I Run and was intended as a continuation of the Joker series. However, it diverged significantly in aesthetic tone, favoring darker base glass and deeper swirl contrasts. The name “Omega” was used internally at the time of production, while “Black Rainbow” came from box labels preserved by Ed Parsons. The designation “Rainbow II” was later contributed by Joshua Dinklage to distinguish it from its predecessor.
This run is also notable for its connection to early failed crystal experiments, which influenced its glass chemistry and swirl structure. Despite initial confusion in its classification, the marbles have since gained recognition for their unique visual traits and technical refinement.
