David McCullough Tribute (I) Run
The David McCullough Tribute I Run, held on September 19, 2008, was the first official Tribute Run at JABO Inc., and it marked a turning point in the company’s marble-making legacy. Here's everything we know about it:
Purpose and Significance
Tribute to the Master: This run was explicitly created to honor Dave McCullough, the legendary marble maker whose craftsmanship and innovation defined JABO’s golden era.
Artistic Breakthrough: It featured some of the most brilliant color combinations ever produced at JABO, with vibrant swirls, aventurine sparkle, and oxblood accents. Collectors often describe it as an “extra SPECIAL run.”
Legacy Launchpad: It laid the foundation for future Tribute Runs, including Last Dance, Tribute to Friendship, and Tribute to Legacy, each building on the collaborative spirit and reverence introduced here.
The Organizing Team – Tribute I Investors (patrons)
This run was made possible by a diverse group of collectors and enthusiasts who invested in the materials, design, and production. These individuals contributed financially, creatively, and logistically to the run, helping select cullet, color combinations, and packaging. The team included:
