Key Organizers: Dave McCullough and Steve Sturtz

• Role:
McCullough was the technical and creative backbone of every Tribute Run. He operated the furnace, selected glass combinations, and ensured the marbles met high artistic standards. Sturtz worked with collectors and enthusiasts, to bring the finances and team together.
• Vision:
He welcomed outside collaborators—collectors, investors, and artists—into the production process, allowing them to influence color choices, cullet contributions, and naming conventions.
Formation of Tribute Teams
• First Tribute Run:
September 19, 2008 marked the inaugural Tribute Run, organized by a group of collectors who wanted to honor McCullough’s legacy and the heritage of American marble-making.
• Team Ethos:
The Tribute teams emphasized the naming of marbles, produced handcrafted keepsake boxes, and attempted to emphasize the artistry especially around the genus of David McCullough.
